Newest Comic / Re: Sonic the Hedgehog Online #248 Released

I get it obviously. I'm just a it worried we'll be hit with the same barrage of delays that have plagued this series for it's whole existence once again.
Trust me, these things take time- what the team has put out so far is of extremely high quality, I'm sure everyone here agrees we'd rather the team take their time with it rather than do a rush job.  It'll be driving nobody more insane than the guys working on it, I know exactly how they feel :D

Lovely linework.

Your style has really sharpened up in those pieces; It's crisp and concise.

Lovely.

If only Ken Penders had taken over Pokemon. I'm pretty sure Ash Kethcum and the rest of the cast would age.

Yeah, but they'd all have about twenty-five secret estranged relatives who look almost exactly like them and they'd also all be related to one another through some kind of spiritual/sci-fi mcguffin lore which one of the characters just happened to be keeping under his hat the whole time since the very first episode.

Gasp. They never saw it coming. This is how we write stories. Copyright Ken Pen, High Chief of the Echdyy'n'ya Tribe.

I understand that first impressions are important, but it still seems a bit early to dismiss them when we haven't seen them in action yet.

Honestly, I think they look quite interesting. They maintain that iconic Sonic character style, yet are not really based on any particular character mold that came before them in terms of designs - which has been something I know fans have been complaining about.

I'm dismissing them based upon the choices made in terms of their visual design, not their written characterisation - which I don't have any foreknowledge of. I'd say the big one is a further exaggeration of the body type of Thrash the Tasmanian Devil - with attention being paid to Vector's peripheral aesthetics. The little one I don't know - his hunched over posture makes me think of the kind of villainous poses occasionally made by Scourge, possibly.

One big problem I have with them is how I might describe them to other people; Their designs are so generic that they lack any real distinguishing features (beyond their size) which I might key into when discussing them with others - for instance if the big one had a necktie and a Rolex I could describe him as the IDW Sonic character who has a necktie and a Rolex; If the little one wore sunglasses and had spotted fur I would describe him thusly.

Their silhouettes are not bad in terms of character design; The designers have tried in that regard. But they lack key, identifying, describable features. This is a failure in design terms.

As it is I can't even identify what species they are. One might be a skunk and the other might be a ferret. I'm not entirely sure; I certainly wouldn't describe them to someone else using those species names as identifiers.

At least they aren't basing their original characters off of that limited Custom Avatar set in "Forces". Now THAT would be a major step backwards.

I can agree on that.

If anything, Rough and Tumble seem to be reminding me of Sleet and Dingo. Which is good; I kinda missed those characters.

I felt that too. However, Sleet and Dingo are probably my least favourite animated/cartoon Sonic characters. They were also poorly designed. Even when experienced by myself as a young viewer, I felt they were so out of place in Sonic Underground that I wondered if they were rejects from another animated series who had somehow wandered their way into a Sonic cartoon.

Also Underground was not my cup of coffee; It was weeeeeeiiiird in an eighties/nineties trying too hard not cool kinda way.

For the record I give Tangle's design an A - if not an A plus. Of course I don't yet have any information about her written characterisation.

Upcoming Sonic Games / Re: What's next for Sonic Videogames
« Last post by Kelli on Today at 01:55:41 PM »
It wont happen but I love the idea of Sega just maybe doing a time out with Sonic. Focus on other games for a bit. (Puyo Puyo ayone.?)
There just isn't much passion from Sonic Team anymore, asside from Sonic Mania which was made by fans. But for the regular serie is it really that bad if the series is going to hybration for 5,8 years?

slightly off topic, but Ash Kethcum from Pokemon has been what... 10 years old... for the past 20 years or so, so it's not exactly uncommon.

From what has been reported, "Forces" appears to have sold well, despite its mediocre reception.

I guess that means the fanbase is its own victim.

More like gamers being gamers. They'll wail and gnash their teeth about sub-par/broken games, questionable business practices, and invasive drm but at the end of the day they still buy the game regardless.

I'm so glad everyone is still talking to this obvious troll.

Meh, the MS paint Mario guy had none of the subtlety and he still got bites. Personally, I tuned it out the minute SJW started being thrown around unironically, troll or no.

I can at least admire confronting this kind of stuff in spite of its likely lack of authenticity.

If you wouldn't mind, there's some example art I'd like you to do for us. I want to see these first DRAWN (which means not inked or colored), and then I'd like to see a second version of that picture you drew all inked and colored.

1: Archie on model Sonic with a Chili Dog hat.

2: A very cartoony Tails upset and crying a little as he's holding a headless Sonic plushie in one hand, and the removed head in the other.

3: Knuckles punching an inflatable punching balloon with the picture of a clown on it.

I probably should have posted these earlier (I was a little bit busy), but here are the drawings you requested...

As well as the "finished" versions.

I'm now working on the coloring request as I type this.
