You're suggesting characters which are female and/or of colour are somehow more progressive than male white characters - all the while ignoring anything those characters stand for. I dare say that if Storm Hawks had an openly gay character you'd be playing that card against Slugterra as well.

[sarcasm]Because it's not what a character stands for that makes them good or bad - it's their sex, race and/or sexual preference.[/sarcasm]

You also begrudge the Slugterrans for using guns whilst ignoring the things they use those guns to fight for - such as justice, defending the weak, upholding the law for the good of all (you're also ignoring the fact that the guns fire literal slugs - as in gastropoda - as in shell-less molluscs - and not lethal ammunition):

But back on point - the things you're saying - don't walk down that path. The things you're using to measure the value of characters with are entirely superficial - if not entirely false - virtues. Measure the worth of a character by what they stand for - not by their sex, the colour of their skin or their sexuality.

You do not make a good story by playing this game. Don't fall into that trap. Do not measure the value of stories (or characters) using those criteria.

Ok fine. Yes. My wording was a little broad. (I was in a hurry.) I was also not immediately thinking of the characters and their roles in their respective shows. I was thinking on the lines of being diverse. If I was a parent, I would want my kid to watch something more thoughtful, a little more inclusive. I'm a fan of slugterra, not as much as I am a fan of storm hawks, but still. Am I blinded by favoritism? Yes, most probably. But that doesn't diminish the point I'm trying to make. Storm Hawks is a world where females can be villains, Slugterra is not. Storm hawks is a world where a woman of color is on the team and contributes something the others cannot. While Slugterra falls flat in this regard.
Considering Slugterra is Storm Hawk's successor, it just seems a little odd.

Am I making something out of nothing? Ehhhh. Maybe. That's subjective. If my bringing up of a topic that's highly controversial, is a problem: Then the mods can let me know. Otherwise: This site is for all kinds of debates, over whatever we choose, unless dictated otherwise.

Besides my personable preference for one over the other, Storm Hawks, despite being made earlier, has more progressive themes than it's successor SlugTerra.

Storm Hawks had a main female villain for the entire series, with a male right hand man. Slugterra does not, having only male villains and one of the later seasons introducing a female villain that was only there for a handful of episodes.

SlugTerra uses 'blasters', which are the cousin of guns. Storm hawks uses medieval weapons and magic crystals instead. Considering the rise in gun violence, Storm hawks was more thoughtful in this regard.

Finally, storm Hawks had a woman of Color on their team, for the entire series. Slugterra does not. Ever.

Oh dear. You actually went and said that. Oh dear oh dear.

Should I be laughing or crying? I really can't tell if you're trolling or being serious.

This video is about as good an example as I can find. It's kinda like when Nerf guns met Pokemon and had some kind of illegitimate lovechild. It's harmless.

oh gosh I remember really disliking this show as a kid, I dont remember it ever doing something new or different with  gender roles I only remember forcing myself to watch it because another show was coming up right after

I don't actually remember anything about that show (Ying Yang Yo) having any kind of gender issues but I remember not liking it - and yeah - only ever watching it because something better was coming after it.

It was very not good.

Chapter 32 (Track and Field, Part 4,) is up. This Chapter in a nutshell: FIGHTY FIGHTY FIGHTY TIME, BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD! (Don't ask me where I got that from; even I can't remember where I got that from. I know I got it from somewhere...) Yes, this Chapter is the big fight sequence of the story-arc, and while it doesn't end it, it still helps get things to that point. Also, Bunnie gets her full arsenal of abilities - flight, energy blasts, all that jazz — while Johnny gets an upgrade. His new mace allows him to fly, shoot energy blasts, and project a grey item-box shield protective force-field, and while Johnny doesn't technically have superstrength, his mace hits hard enough that he might as well have.

Other than that, Antoine's gotta make a hell of a choice. I kinda feel bad for putting him in that situation, but what can you do?

when it comes to TV shows, there was this one show I watched growing up called Storm Hawks. It ran during what many people consider the dark age of TV cartoons (mid to late 00's or so)

Overall, I think it was pretty darn good. Did it have it's flaws? Sure, every show does, but to this day the animation mix between 2D and 3D looks absolutely amazing, I swear it doesn't look aged at all XP And the story was a lot of fun as well, with an overarching plot running over mostly standalone episodes.

The guys who made Storm Hawks also made "SlugTerra". I personably like Storm Hawks better. I was pretty sour about how it never got a true conclusion and SlugTerra got three or more movies, more episodes, etc. Although it hasn't been making anymore episodes, so I dunno what happened there...

Besides my personable preference for one over the other, Storm Hawks, despite being made earlier, has more progressive themes than it's successor SlugTerra.

One another note, does anyone remember watching a show called "Iggy Arbuckle"? I learned a lot about the environment and animals through that show.

And also Wayside?

This one bothered me. While it is pretty harmless, the teacher in the show picks on the new kid. All the time. And the students nor the principle do anything to help. This coincides with how one of my teachers in middle school would bully a lot of the students in class. She would single us out and act surprised when we did well. She was biased and a real b*tch. So I always hated teh teacher in "Wayside".

its pretty art  but no Fiona doesn't seem to have any character untill she was made evil and that her doing another 180 would just make her a flip flop character
Tails liked a fake robot version of her based on her look, so there isnt any emotional growth to it either.

Interview and first preview pages for Cosmo.

This looks amazing. I love that Cosmo and his crew are treating Captain Max Strongjaw (Love everything about that name) like a Puppy they just picked up. This series looks delightful and I want every issue.

slap or not, I feel if tails knew or was more aware about how she was begin treated by Sally, her backstory and what not, it would work out.

Sorry if i seem like a jerk pushing this, I just strongly believe that this can happen with all the right ingredients. a happy ending for Fiona would be nice too, and the ending of the jailbreak story seemed to set the tone that fiona and scourge would soon be no more.
Don't really remember Fiona being treated bad by anyone. Asking her why she knows two bad guys that well and never told them was a legitimate question, especially seeing how nervous she looked when Sonic first asked her. She never had any feelings for Tails

Been watching a few different things lately. I'm caught up on My Hero Academia, looking forward to Season 3 when that comes out, and I'm up to date on Voltron. Other anime I've started watching are Ancient Magus Bride on Crunchyroll and Fate Apocrypha on Netflix.

Loving Magus Bride so far, the magical creatures are interesting and I like the growing relationship between Chise and Elias. I've watched up to episode 3 so far.

Fate Apocrypha is interesting compared to other entries in the Fate franchise, but I'm not sure if I'd recommend it yet or not. Also watched up to episode 3.

Oh, and I've caught with Eureka Seven for when the Hi-Evolution movies come out. Looking forward to seeing those :)

Huge fan of BNHA and Ancient Magus Bride here too  :D also up to date with Voltron

Stay safe, but I will say I have seen a lot of odd YouTube videos regarding the fires - blaming the fires on the NWO (presumably 'New World Order'?) and/or experimental energy weapons. Not sure if it's trolls or gen-yoo-ine crazies making those videos.

Odd stuff. I wouldn't have believed people actually put those kind of conspiracy theories about (much less put any kind of belief in them) unless I'd seen the videos myself earlier today.

Thanks, will do. I don't own a mansion on a fiery hillside, so I think I'm fine for the time being ;). Just some fires closing the freeways here and there making things smoky and inconvenient.

Speaking of crazies, I was talking to some guy in line at the grocery store who was claiming that he was watching the news and they were directing firebugs where to start fires. Not the first crazy conversation at the grocery store either, before that it was someone going on about the secret government base on the dark side of the moon. The most interesting one so far has been some guy on campus talking about how “they” stole Tuesday from him (tbf I think that guy just wandered away from the psychology dept). I feel like I’ve been smiling and nodding just a little more these days. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
