Previously known as Planet Earth<\/strong>, Sonic\u2019s home world Mobius<\/strong> is a vibrant planet full of various types of environments and creatures. About 12,000 years ago in the 21st Century CE, the planet was devastated by Gene Bombs<\/strong> fired by an alien race, the Xorda<\/strong>, leaving relatively few of the original inhabitants of the planet alive. Two thousand years later, new life began to emerge on the planet in the form of the Mobosaurs<\/strong>. These creatures were mostly wiped out by the Coming of the Chaos Emeralds <\/strong>after which anthropomorphic Mobians<\/strong> emerged and developed, eventually resulting in Mobian culture as it exists today. The present year of Planet Mobius is 3237 P.X.E. (Post Xorda Event), which correlates to approximately 14,017 CE.<\/p>\n

The political makeup of Mobius largely consists of self governing communities with informal allegiances between their respective states. Two of the most influential are the Republic of Acorn\u00a0<\/strong>of Northamer and the\u00a0United Federation<\/strong> which is comprised of many city states populated by the human species that once dominated Earth. These groups are allied in their mission to defeat the Eggman Empire\u00a0<\/strong>which controls various territory across the planet and aims to enslave all life on Mobius. The currently ongoing Second Robotnik War\u00a0<\/strong>continues to engulf everyone on the planet in this struggle.<\/p>\n

There are many locations on planet Mobius, including large continents, smaller islands, wide oceans, and even pocket dimensions or Zones<\/strong> existing on another level of reality; though they are not cosmically similar to the larger universes created by the Neutral Zone<\/strong>.
