Espio is a ninja of the Shinobi Clan<\/strong> and a founding member of the Chaotix<\/strong>. Espio was born in the Dragon Kingdom<\/strong> to the Bride of Constant Vigil<\/strong>, the leader of the Shinobi Clan. Espio would receive ninja training early in his life and prove himself to be an elite shinobi in his own right. Espio was selected to travel to the Floating Island<\/strong>, living alongside his mentor Valdez the Chameleon<\/strong> in Rainbow Valley<\/strong> for his mission to shadow the next member of the Brotherhood of Guardians<\/strong>: Knuckles the Echidna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

While Espio would initially keep his distance from his target, he would ultimately reveal himself and aid Knuckles to defend their home from Dr. Ivo “Julian” Robotnik<\/strong>. Espio continued to work alongside Knuckles and the others, forging bonds of friendship unexpected of a Shinobi. Espio’s loyalty to the team was challenged briefly by the establishment of the Iron Dominion<\/strong>, but Espio worked within his code to remain loyal to his friends. Espio has revealed all of his secrets to the Chaotix, but remains guilty over his history of deception.<\/p>\n

Espio is a trained Shinobi Clan ninja, and uses those skills to act as the reconnaissance member of the Chaotix by infiltrating enemy bases and finding useful information for their investigations. Espio’s natural abilities aid him further, such as his ability to stick to and run along walls as well as turn invisible to avoid detection. Espio can even use his tongue to fight or travel long distances. Espio is also a strong fighter, and well equipped for battle using shuriken, kunai, and other weapons of his Clan.<\/p>\n

Espio tends to keep to himself, as is befitting of a ninja, but is fiercely loyal to his people and his allies and will not hesitate to protect them. Espio is particularly close to Charmy the Bee<\/strong>, who he bonded with due to their obligations to their people over their shared team. Since Charmy’s injury, Espio has tried to protect him, but has found himself rescued by Charmy on occasion. While often the quiet one, Espio has begun to open himself up to his friends like Knuckles and Nicole the Holo-Lynx<\/strong>, allowing himself to be vulnerable as a sign of trust, and indicating his bonds have forever changed the person he once was.<\/p>\n
