The coup staged by Dr. Ivo “Julian” Robotnik<\/strong> forced the citizens of Mobotropolis<\/strong> to flee into the Great Forest<\/strong> for safety, in particular the refuge of Knothole Village<\/strong>. Almost as soon as the dictator had risen to power, those that survived became determined to overthrow him and restore the Kingdom of Acorn<\/strong>. It was decided by Colonel Tig Stripe<\/strong> and his compatriots that a team of Freedom Fighters would be needed to stand against this tyranny. And so, the Knothole Freedom Fighters<\/strong> were formed and began the First Robotnik War<\/strong> with missions to retake the newly christened city of Robotropolis<\/strong>. Unfortunately for the team, they were betrayed by one of their own and cast into the Zone of Silence<\/strong> never to be seen again.<\/p>\n

However the Knothole Freedom Fighters would not end with them. Heir apparent to the Kingdom Princess Sally Acorn<\/strong> and her closest friends (Antoine D’Coolette<\/strong>, Rotor the Walrus<\/strong>, and Sonic the Hedgehog<\/strong>) would take up the fight, and would go on to prove themselves more than up to the task. For 10 years, Sally’s team grew up opposing Robotnik Inc.<\/strong> and driving back local expansion of the dictator’s forces. While the Freedom Fighters became synonymous with all those living in Knothole, the core team only modestly expanded with young Miles “Tails” Prower<\/strong> and Bunnie the Rabbot<\/strong>. While the team was formally dismantled for a time following the end of the First Robotnik War, they eventually reassembled to combat the growing threat of Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik<\/strong>, and in doing so saw the addition of Amy Rose<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At this time, the old organization of the Knothole Freedom Fighters has been retired, with the two task forces of Team Freedom<\/strong> and Team Fighters<\/strong> balancing the team’s goals of protecting the city of New Mobotropolis<\/strong> and challenging the global threats of the Eggman Empire<\/strong> respectively. While no longer as united as they once were, the group remains committed to stopping evil in all its forms and bringing freedom to all of Mobius<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
